A local resident, 37-year-old Asrul Tuanakota, is said to have discovered it on the night of Tuesday, May 9.

Locals have asked the government for help in removing the body.

The remains have sparked the curiosity of locals, who speculated that the creature might be a giant squid. But as he approached, he could see more clearly: whatever this was, it had once been alive.

This creature is far too large to be a squid of any type. The massive 50-foot-long creature, long since deceased, is already decaying, and nobody can seem to offer a definitive answer as to exactly what it is... or was.

An unidentified sea creature has washed ashore in Indonesia's Maluku province.
