In one short set of off-the-cuff remarks in Jerusalem, Trump told an Israeli delegation that he had just gotten back from the Middle East - despite the fact that Israel is squarely in the region. The future status of Jerusalem is among the most contentious issues in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

He did not weigh in Israeli settlements, the status of Jerusalem or even whether the U.S. would continue to insist on a two-state solution giving the Palestinians sovereign territory.
Trump did briefly respond to one shouted question about his meeting with Pope Francis on Wednesday, offering this indisputable assessment of the pontiff: "He is something".

And in today's attack it was mostly innocent children. "Our society can have no tolerance for this continuation of bloodshed". While police believe the suspect was acting alone, investigations are ongoing to establish if he was part of a network.
