Police rush to London Bridge after reports of van hitting pedestrians

Police said they received reports of a vehicle striking pedestrians on London Bridge around 10:08 p.m.

"A white van driver came speeding-probably about 50mph-veered of the road into the crowds of people who were walking along the pavement", she told BBC News.

There are unconfirmed witness reports from the scene at London Bridge tonight that people may have been stabbed.

The BBC reported more than one dead in the incident.

London's police say six people have died in addition to three attackers after a hit-and-run and stabbings on and near London Bridge Saturday.

Armed police responded to a second incident at nearby Borough Market, and Metropolitan police said that a third incident was under investigation in the Vauxhall area, which later turned out to be unrelated.

Metropolitan Police tweeted the London Bridge and Borough Market incidents were declared terrorist incidents.

His administration is asking the U.S. Supreme Court to reinstate it. Trump also tweeted a pledge of help and support for London.

London Bridge Tube station was closed and London Bridge was closed in both directions.

Heaven also said he heard reports of stabbings.

The force tweeted a warning telling people in the area to run to safety, hide and then call police if it is safe to do so. And people just tried to get out of the way of the van.

British prime minister Theresa May is being briefed on the incidents, along with US President Donald Trump.

The UK is still reeling from a suicide bombing in Manchester earlier this month, which killed 22 people, many of them children, following a concert.

Frightened people were led up Southwark Street away from Southwark Bridge Road, and police officers were seen screaming to people and ordering them to run. Multiple people have suffered serious injuries.

One witness told the BBC it was possible some pedestrians had gone over the side of the bridge and into the Thames River below.

"Within my line of sight, there were five or six people on the ground that were not moving", he said.

At nearby Borough Market husband and wife Ben and Natalie told BBC Radio 5 they saw a man being stabbed.

Witnesses report a vehicle hitting pedestrians and injured people on the ground.

One terrified woman said she was at a restaurant and police swarmed on the area.

The Daily Mail reports that witnesses saw three men, described as being "of Mediterranean origin", jump out of the van and began "randomly stabbing people" along Borough High Street with 12-inch long knives.

Indians are also speculated to be in the area as there is an India vs Pakistan match scheduled at the Edgbaston Cricket Stadium in Birmingham on June 4.

A large number of police officers were seen gearing up with helmets and riot gear, believed to be on the hunt for suspects.

On March 22, Khalid Masood ploughed a rented vehicle into pedestrians on Westminster Bridge and stabbed a policeman to death before being shot dead. Five people were killed, including the attacker, and at least 40 people were injured.
