Sheriff David Clarke Isn't Taking Homeland Security Job After All

Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke, a tough-on-crime conservative Democrat, will not accept a post with the Department of Homeland Security.

When Mr. Clarke said last month on a Milwaukee radio show that he would join the homeland security agency as an assistant secretary, it set off alarms in Wisconsin and in Washington.

Trump nominated Clarke for a position at DHS in April, but within days, allegations surfaced that Clarke had plagiarized portions of his masters thesis at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California.

The sheriff put out a statement posted to WisPolitics on Saturday, saying he is rescinding his acceptance of a position within the Department of Homeland Security.

According to Basic Rights Oregon , even the United Nations already uses a non-binary gender marker, X. Jamie Shupe expects to stand out front of an Oregon DMV early next month and cry.

"The sheriff is reviewing options inside and outside of government", Peterson said.

DHS never actually acknowledged the appointment, but the paper says Clarke was supposed to start the new position at the end of the month - until unspecified "delays" got in the way.

Clarke has drawn a considerable amount of controversy as Milwaukee County sheriff. But a political adviser to Clarke says the sheriff notified DHS Secretary John Kelly late Friday, June 16, 2017, that he "had rescinded his acceptance of the agency's offer" to join DHS. Since April 2016, one newborn baby and three inmates have died at the jail, and prosecutors have alleged that one of the deaths was caused by dehydration after jail staff cut off water access to his cell.
